Vm 514: Non-Linear Fracture Mechanics

General information

Course description: The course is a graduate course in fracture mechanics focusing on the concepts of material deformation, and fracture initiation and propagation in the context of solid mechanics. The course is introductory in nature and aims at describing the fundamental concepts of solid mechanics and linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) in addition to more advanced topics such as elasto-plastic fracture mechanics (EPFM) and nonlinear behavior of materials. Numerical methods and methods to experimental determine fracture properties (ASTM standards) are also introduced.
