    Fall 2019 UM-SJTU Joint Institute Graduate Admission has been officially launched from December 1st, 2018.  Master and Ph.D programs in the field of Control Science and Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Information and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, with abundant scholarships are offered to international students.  Mode of study for the master programs is 2.5 years (Full-time); for the doctorial programs is 4 years (Full-time).

    APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY

    • Non-Chinese citizen.
    • Not registered in SJTU at the degree level aiming to apply for.
    • Good Health both physically and mentally.
    • Outstanding academic performance and potential.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent for master program applicants. The degree must be ready prior to the registration day.
    • Master’s degree or equivalent for doctoral program applicants. The degree must be ready prior to the registration day.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in English for programs taught in English: All international applicants for admission to any SJTU program must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum requirements for admission.

    Being born in an English-speaking country doesn’t automatically pass you for English proficiency. You will be deemed to have satisfied the English language requirements if you can provide evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:

    The test/score must be valid till the year of application. For example, the TOEFL must have been undertaken no more than two years prior to the commencement of the program at SJTU, i.e., the test must be dated on or after 1 January (two years prior) for Fall Semester intake.

    HOW TO APPLY      

    Step 1: Complete the Online Application

    Complete and submit an online application at Study@SJTU (http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/) by the application deadline.

    4. An equivalent of China’s bachelor/master-degree education diploma and transcript
    5. English level certificates (TOEFL(new)≥90 or TOEFL(old)≥600)or IELTS≥6.0)
    6. Recommendation from at least two teachers with titles of or above associate-professor
    7. A copy of passport and a passport-sized photo
    8. Any materials that will facilitate your application are encouraged, awards you won, papers or journal articles you published (PDF format), etc.

    Step 2: Pay the Application Fee

    The application fee is CNY 350 or USD 55, non-refundable and non-transferable. Payment must be made using CNY or USD. You can choose online payment or bank transfer in the online application system.

    TUITION AND HOUSING FEES

    Tuition*:  CNY 28900/Year for Master programs (Approx. USD 4200/ Year)

                    CNY 45500/Year for Doctoral programs (Approx. USD 6600/Year)

    Housing:  CNY 50-160/Day on-campus (Approx. USD 8-25/Day)

    SCHOLARSHIPS

    1. Requirements

    • Eligible to apply to the SJTU international graduate program.
    • Not supported by another scholarship simultaneously.

    2. Types of Scholarships

    Note: The support duration cannot be extended. All scholarship recipients are obliged to attend the annual comprehensive scholarship assessment during April and May of each year to confirm their qualification of the scholarship for the next year. Excellent graduate students can also get certain financial support by applying for proper TA or RA positions on campus.     3. How to Apply

    • For Chinese Government Scholarship (Doctoral Type A1 and Master Type A), applications must be made at both China Scholarship Council (CSC) (http://laihua.csc.edu.cn) and Study@SJTU (http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/). Applicants are also encouraged to apply to China Scholarship Council through the Chinese Embassies or relevant organizations in their home country between November and April (varies from country to country).
    • For Shanghai Government Scholarship (Doctoral Type A2), applications must be made at both Study in Shanghai(http://www.study-shanghai.org) and Study@SJTU (http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/).
    • For Type B, C, or D, applications must be made through Study@SJTU (http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/).
