The Delft University of Technology is one of the leading engineering research universities in Europe, rated among the top institutions both in the Times Higher Education and the QS World Rankings. Founded in 1842, it currently has 19,000 students in applied sciences and engineering.

Since 2016, the Joint Institute has a student exchange agreement allowing students to study at one of four participating faculties at the TU Delft:

  • Faculty of Aerospace Engineering (AE)
  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Sciences (EEMCS)
  • Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE)
  • Faculty of Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering (3ME)

JI students participating in the exchange are expected to complete a full-time study load which is 24-30 ECTS credit points per semester. JI students will choose one of the four faculties listed above to enrol in and take the majority of the course credits in that faculty. In particular, the faculties offer the following programmes:

JI students continue to pay tuition at JI; no tuition is paid at the TU Delft. Administrative costs may be charged. Cost of living is approximately 920 Euro / month, including housing, and a model budget can be found here.
