Position: Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nonlinear Nanophotonics Lab
- directed by Prof. Wenjie Wan

Job Responsibilities:
Prof. Wan’s main research focuses on experimental work on nanophotonics, nonlinear optics & quantum optics both at fundamental physics level and applications. We’re exploring new physics at nanoscale with its potential applications. Successful candidates are expected to conduct experimental work on optics as well as numerical simulations. Micro-fabrication experience is a Plus ,but not necessary.

Position: Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Micro and Nanoscale Heat Transfer
- directed by Prof. Hua Bao

Number of available position: 1

Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge theoretical research in the area of micro and nanoscale heat transfer, especially in the energy carrier (phonon, electron, and photon) transport and conversion area. The research will be focusing on thermal transport and energy conversion in nanoscale renewable energy materials (such as superlattices and quantum dots for thermoelectric or photovoltaic applications). One immediate project will be developing a method to calculate phonon-phonon scattering and phonon-electron scattering rate based on ab initio calculations.

Requirements:
• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Chemistry or related field
• Solid background in least one of the following subjects:  solid state physics, quantum mechanics, or electromagnetic theory.
• Previous experience with ab initio calculation, molecular dynamics, or boltzmann transport equation is preferred.
• Be able to communicate and write technical documents in English.

Prof. Yang’s research interests are in nanotechnology, optoelectronics, and the applications in energy, information and biology. On-going research projects include:
• Fiber-optic biosensors for cancer diagnosis,
• Ultrahigh sensitivity single molecule sensors and optoelectronic integrated devices,
• Microscale surface textures and optoelectronic devices,
• Nanophotonic structures in solar cells and OLEDs.

Position: Postdoctoral Researcher in Surgical Robotics

Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will join an interdisciplinary team to develop a multifunctional endoscopic device and a laparoscopic robotic device for surgical applications. Important aspects of the problems include designing actuation and mechanisms, developing kinematics/elastics/statics models for control, developing calibration and compensation algorithms for prototypes, preparing animal studies, etc.

Requirements:
• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a field related to  robotics;
• Strong theoretical background;
• Excellent communication skills and work ethic;
• Experience with mechanism design;

Job Responsibilities:
• Work independently on research projects in the field of optical measurement, optical sensing, and machine vision. Current projects include:
- 3-D shape measurement based on the structured light methods
- Microscope for surface profile measurement
- Absolute encoders for nano-positioning
- Surface encoders for mobile robot navigation
- Face recognition for biometric applications
• Help the faculty adviser supervise graduate students, write grant proposals, and manage the daily operation of the research lab
• Write research papers and reports in English
• Occasionally teach undergraduate and graduate courses

Requirements:
• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from a major research university in China or overseas
• Ability to conduct independent research
