    JI students win medals at 2018 University Physics Competition

    The University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute students maintained their strong performance in the annual University Physics Competition (UPC). All the four JI teams attending the ninth UPC held in November 2018 were awarded medals, including a silver medal and three bronze medals.

    JI professor creates new structure for in-memory computing

    The ternary content-addressable memory (TCAM) has been created with two-dimensional (2D) MoS2 transistors and resistive random-access memories (RRAMs), as an in-memory computing engine that can enable parallel search of massive data, according to a research paper by Professor Rui Yang of the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute.

    The University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI) Ph.D. graduate Aimin Tang clinched 2018 SJTU Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award with his dissertation on full duplex communications and coded caching for 5G networks, according to a recent SJTU announcement.

    JI student wins gold medal at ACM Student Research Competition

    Zhuangzhuang Zhou, an undergraduate student of the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (JI) took a first place during a recent Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Research Competition (SRC) of the Special Interest Group on Design Automation (SIGDA), winning him a gold medal in the undergraduate category and a place at the ACM SRC 2019 Grand Finals.
