The Nano Energy Lab is part of thermal science and heat transfer area and focuses on the energy transport and conversion at nanoscale. In our lab, we are developing fundamental understanding and innovative approaches to solve the sustainable energy and energy efficiency problems, which are among the greatest challenges of our society.
Prof. Hua Bao received his B.S. of Physics from Tsinghua University
in 2006 and Ph.D. on Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in
2012. He then joined UM-SJTU Joint Institute as an assistant professor.

The Nano Energy Group is currently looking for graduate students and postdoc fellows. The students who are interested in micro and nanoscale energy transport and conversion (including heat conduction, thermal radiation transfer, and nanophotonics) are welcome to contact Prof. Bao for more information. Students with a background of mechanical engineering (especially heat transfer), electrical engineering, material science, or physics are welcome to apply for a position in this group. Undergraduate students are also welcomed to join the lab to obtain some research experiences.
纳米能量课题组的研究方向归属于工程热物理学科（在国际上属于热科学和传热学范畴），并专注于微纳米尺度的能量的输运和转换。通过我们的研究，希望能够实现对于传热中的基本物理问题和过程的理解，并通过创新的方法来解决社会面临的能源可持续以及能源利用效率的问题。
鲍华，上海交通大学密西根学院助理教授，博士生导师。本科毕业于清华大学物理系，获得学士学位。毕业后在美国普渡大学机械工程系继续深造，并获得博士学位。
