Design and Manufacturing
The Design and Manufacturing research group of JI focuses on the fundamental research topics on design and manufacturing, expanding from traditional areas like design methodology to cutting-edge topics like mechatronics and biomechanics. The thrust areas include manufacturing process modeling, analysis and prediction, precision manufacturing and metrology, design automation and optimization, mechatronics, robotics, and biomechanics. Research in the Design and Manufacturing group is multi-disciplinary that spans many areas, including Manufacturing process modeling, analysis and prediction, precision engineering, quality control methods, intelligent maintenance systems, monitoring and fault diagnosis, materials processing, design automation, robotics, Mechatronics and Biomechanics. Faculty in the Design and Manufacturing group maintain prosperous research programs involving theoretical, experimental, and computational investigations in a broad range of applications, such as propulsion, aerodynamic systems, new energy systems, life sciences and various other industry applications.
