VE215 Introduction to Circuits

Basic concepts of voltage and current; kirchhoff's voltage and current laws; Ohm's law; voltage and current sources; Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits; DC and low active circuits using operational amplifiers; energy and power. Time- and frequency-domain analysis of RLC circuits. Basic passive and active electronic filters. Laboratory experience with electrical signals and circuits.
 

 

VE216 Introduction to Signals and Systems
Summer 2013

Introduce basic concepts for both continuous-time and discrete-time signals and systems. Signal and system representations are developed for both time and frequency domains. These representations are related through the Fourier transform and its generalizations, which are explored in detail.

Maxwell's equations, constitutive relations and boundary conditions. Potentials and the representation of electromagnetic fields. Uniqueness, duality, equivalence, reciprocity and Babinet's theorems. Plane, cylindrical, and spherical waves, Dyadic Green's function. Waveguides and elementary antennas.
 

VE534 Optics and Photonics
Fall 2020, Fall 2021

A review of electromagnetics, rays and optical beams, guided wave optics and surface plasmons, resonators, waveguide coupling, wave propagation in periodic media, FDTD, and scattering in nanophotonics.
